Jasper Philipsen (Alpecin-Deceuninck) has won Stage 3 of the 58th edition of the Tirreno-Adriatico Crédit Agricole, the 216km long Follonica-Foligno. Phil Bauhaus (Bahrain Victorious) and Biniam Girmay (Intermarché – Circus – Wanty) finished second and third, respectively
Filippo Ganna (Ineos Grenadiers) retains the Maglia Azzurra.
Speaking seconds after the stage finish, the stage winner Jasper Philipsen said: “It’s always nice to win but it’s even nicer after a team effort like today’s. My team-mates told there was a possibility of crosswinds in the finale so I was up there. It feels good to get the first win of the team for this year but we knew it was gonna come soon. Mathieu van der Poel’s lead out made it easier for me to get the win”.
The Maglia Azzurra Filippo Ganna said: “I did not see the split but I managed to be at the front with my team-mates. It eventually came down to another sprint and I’m still in the lead. We’ll see how we work it out tomorrow”.
