AG2R CITROËN TEAM does the double: Nans Peters wins the Trofeo Laigueglia ahead of Andrea Vendrame.
“What a pleasure to win! I am a rider who doesn’t win that often and each time it seems I do it after riding 30 kilometers solo like today.
I had really good legs. In the end, I just repeated to myself “all the way”. This victory does me a lot of good for the morale.
The day was dantesque with the rain. We found ourselves in a good position in the final with Benoît (Cosnefroy) and Andrea (Vendrame). I wanted to anticipate any attacks to play off the numbers the team had in the front, and it worked for me. It’s a huge team success.
I am coming out of two complicated seasons so reconnecting with winning is definitely a relief. It took resilience. I never gave up.
This winter, I wanted something new. I changed my coach, started training earlier. It’s paying off.
Now I head for Strade Bianche (March 4) and Tirreno-Adriatico (March 6-12). I like when the races follow one another; we have to surf with the right momentum.”
