Mathieu Van der Poel wins Stage 1 of the Giro d’Italia and wears the first Maglia Rosa

Mathieu Van der Poel (Alpecin-Fenix) has won Stage 1 of the 105th Giro d’Italia, the 195km long Budapest-Visegrád route that marks the start of the Corsa Rosa and decides the first Maglia Rosa of the race.

Biniam Girmay (Intermarchè-Wanty-Gobert Matériaux) and Pello Bilbao Lopez de Armentia (Bahrain Victorious) finished second and third respectively.
