Bilbao wins a breathtaking stage in Pieve di Bono

The Bahrain-Victorious Spaniard was the most daring down the Boniprati descent, and finished it off outsprinting Aleksandr Vlasov and Simon Yates in the Valle del Chiese finish. Yates confirmed his GC lead.

Bahrain-Victorious’ Pello Bilbao conquered the 2021 Tour of the Alps’ queen stage, 168,6 km from Naturns/Naturno to Valle del Chiese/Pieve di Bono. Simon Yates (Team BikeExchange) and Aleksandr Vlasov (Astana Premier Tech) moved on the attack on the Boniprati climb, but on the way down Bilbao showed his descending skills bridging back to the head of the race. In the final sprint, Bilbao had the best ofVlasov and Yates. The Team BikeExchange Brit confirmed his overall lead.
